A perfect assessment

At the Board of Supervisors meeting, the Sheriff’s office just received its recertification from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. The office is one of 82 accredited in the state. And one of a handful to have received a perfect assessment.

“This is not easily attained,” Stafford Sheriff Charles Jett said as he presented the award.

Board chairman Benny Pitts told Sheriff Howard Smith: “This governing board is very proud of our sheriff’s department…Your agency day in and day out tries to do a better job than they did yesterday.’
