Rt. 3 widening to start Oct. 25 (weather permitting)
Spotsylvania County officials today announced that Henderson Construction will begin the State Route 3 widening project on Monday.
The project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as a federal stimulus project.
Rt. 3 will be widened to six lanes from Chewning Lane to Gordon Road. The first phase of the construction is in the area near Gordon Road. Henderson anticipates completing the project on July 19, 2012.
County spokeswoman Kathy Smith wrote in a press release that a community meeting to show the final construction plans will be scheduled soon.
“The community is asked to please be mindful of the construction for your own safety, and for the safety of the crews working along the roadway. During the construction time, citizens can expect to see temporary alterations to traffic patterns in order for crews to perform the work, and so the community may wish to factor this into daily travel schedules.”
