Minimum fire and rescue training standards unveiled tonight
There is a Fire and Rescue Commission meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the county board room.
The commission will review for the first time the proposal for minimum training standards. This story explains partially why these standards needed to be created. On Aug. 28, County Administrator Doug Barnes presented a draft of how the minimum standards might work.
The commission will also get an update from Fire Chief Chris Eudailey on the state study underway of the county’s fire and rescue system. Eudailey also will discuss the internal and external review of the Feb. 5 fatal fire.
The commission also will discuss the problem with some people not completing fire and rescue reports, which could put the county in legal trouble under certain circumstances.
The commission also will discuss response times and staffing.
