Spotsylvania News
Jeff Branscome writes about Spotsylvania County.
If they build it, Vakos hopes they will come
Late last night the Board of Supervisors voted 7-0 to have staff move forward with a final lease agreement for a PPEA project by W.J. Vakos to be returned to BOS for Aug. 11 meeting and also to return deposits submitted by other proposers. Vakos wants to build a government building for the county to replace Capital One. The offices will house general services and social services.
The government offices would be built in Vakos’ Courthouse Village. To date, supervisors have only had closed meetings about this and have said nothing publicly about it.
Vakos needs food traffic to make its development by the courthouse succeed. Obviously, having 450 government employees within walking distance of the restaurants going in there will help make the development succeed. We should have a clearer picture of the costs associated with this deal in August.
