Luck Stone Wants To Increase Mining

I apologize for the late notice but I got the information yesterday myself. Luck Stone is seeking a special use permit to increase its mining area by 28 acres at its facility off U.S. 1 in Massaponax.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Spotsylvania County Schools Administration Building on Riverstone Drive.

The 28 acres are currently zoned for industrial, and are used for processing and inventory. For specific questions about the special use permit, you can call the Real Estate Manager Mark Vigil at 540/735-3125. For general questions, you can call Community Relations Manager Danny Shaha at 703/554-6176.

I am not able to attend the meeting. If someone who reads my blog does attend, call me tomorrow and fill me in. It is early in the process so I will be able to get more details when they file the application.

I did not see any meeting notification on the
    Spotsy website….

Who is having the meeting and who was told
    about it?

    Sorry Larry,
It was a community meeting, not an official county meeting.

They haven’t filed the application yet I don’t think.

the 28 acres is for the Spotsylvania Plant off of Smith Station and Levelles not the massaponax plant off of 1! Just for though the Spotsylvania Plant has recieved numerous national awards for it operation and enviromental stewardship in the past years SINCE Luck Stone has taken over! Also by oppening up this area (28 acres that is already being used for inventory) it will allow myself a life long resident of Spotsylvania County to work a good paying job with great benifits and retire and raise my family on our farm! not to mention the 30+ people that work with Luck at thier Spotsylvania Site who all are local residents!
