Station 10 opens on time
Spotsylvania County officials last night opened the second fire and rescue station this month. Station 10 is a combined station on Gordon Road. Last night, the Chancellor volunteers, who will staff the station at nights and on weekends, celebrated the opening with a flag raising and a cook out.
More than 100 people attended the event, including Supervisor Gary Skinner, Deputy County Administrator Ernie Pennington and County Administrator Randy Wheeler, who brought one of his two sons and his wife.
The construction of this station went much smoother than it did for Company 4 off of Falcon Drive. At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors came out of closed session with a resolution to ban the construction company, Manning Construction, and bond insurer, Travelers, from ever doing business in the county again. Company 4 was more than a year delayed.
