Budget Public Hearing

I just wanted to issue a quick reminder that the public hearing on the fiscal year 2009 budget starts at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at Courtland High School.

Last year, only a fraction of the usual number of speakers came. Back then, my story said that because the supervisors didn’t propose a tax increase, no one felt the need to come with their opinions.

This year is different. The current budget proposes a 6-cent tax increase. There are no raises for county employees.

I have a feeling it could be a long night.
