UMW ROUNDUP: Eagles quick to blank Seahawks
Riley Fisher, Kevin Murphy and David Heller each scored a goal to lead the University of Mary Washington men’s soccer team to a 3–0 victory over host and Capital Athletic Conference rival St. Mary’s Wednesday.
UMW outshot the Seahawks 18–4. Murphy and Guy Cross chipped in assists and goalies Ian Waltz and Jack Eaton combined for the shutout.
UMW (10–6, 4–3 CAC) hosts Frostburg State for homecoming Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Battleground Athletic Complex.
Carlee Budd scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the 12th-ranked Eagles to a 4–2 victory at Wesley College.
Caitlin Baker and Haley Kane also tallied goals and Kathleen Namey had an assist for the Eagles (14–1, 3–1) , who host Frostburg State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Eagles got shut out 3–0 by Christopher Newport at the Battleground.
Goalkeeper Sara Armor made eight saves for the Eagles (8–8, 3–4), who will host Frostburg State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Eagles swept Wesley College in straight games, 25–19, 25–22, 25–14, in Dover, Del., Wednesday.
UMW was led by Kayla Crawford, who recorded 15 kills. Kaitlynn Wickersham and Alexis Cummings each added eight and seven kills, respectively. Courtney Guengerich had 34 assists.
The Eagles (14–8, 4–1) host Washington & Lee tonight at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Center.
