Prep Football: Culpeper seeking a new coach

Mike Williams is out as head football coach at Culpeper High School.
Williams confirmed Thursday night that he was no longer the coach of the Blue Devils but offered no reason for the change.
“We parted ways. That’s all I’ve got to say,” Williams said.
Williams added that he was glad to not be in the public eye any longer.
“I don’t have to do that anymore, and I’m very thankful for that,” he said.
Efforts to reach Culpeper athletic director Michael Wills and Culpeper principal Jeff Dietz were unsuccessful. Wills sent an email to The Free Lance–Star on Thursday afternoon advertising the opening.
Williams went 8–32 in four years as Culpeper’s coach, including an 0–10 campaign in 2011.
The 2012 season was especially tumultuous for Williams and the Blue Devils. They lost nine straight games before beating Caroline, 52–0, in the season finale.
And Williams was suspended for the Sept. 21 game at Chancellor because of his role in an incident involving his family and the members of a Culpeper player’s family following the Blue Devils’ 47–28 loss at Charlottesville on Sept. 14.
