UMW Men’s Basketball: Eagles reach W&L tourney title game

Taylor Johnson scored a team-high 19 points and Lamonte Fields added 15 points in leading the University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team to an 85–61 victory over Emory & Henry College in the Washington & Lee Holiday Tournament in Lexington on Wednesday night.

Leading by three at halftime, UMW opened the second half with a 15–2 run and hit 6 of 10 3-point attempts, to turn back the Wasps. The Eagles shot 58 percent from the field in the second half.

Mary Washington (5–6) will face Washington & Lee, a 59–53 winner over Kenyon on Wednesday, in today’s championship at 4 p.m.
