Prep Girls Basketball: Big second half leads Cavaliers to win

Caroline erased a nine-point deficit at halftime, coming all the way back to defeat visiting Chancellor 60–57 on Friday night.

Jayla McNeil led the Cavaliers with 14 points and Jazmen Moore and Shannon Mosby had 11 points apiece.

Bo Hayes and Nikia Robinson combined for 26 of Caroline’s 33 rebounds.

The Cavaliers visit Spotsylvania on Tuesday.

Brianne Comden accounted for nearly half of Massaponax’s points, scoring 24, while also grabbing seven rebounds.

Victoria Washington and Cierra Wormely added eight points apiece for the Panthers, and Patrice Hounshell recorded six assists, four steals and three rebounds. Teammate Emma Grosskopf had five boards.

Markiana Smith led Orange with 12 points.

Massaponax travels to Colonial Forge next Friday.

Kendall Parker hit five

3-pointers and had 19 points to lead the Indians. Rachael Payne had six points and 10 rebounds for the Black–Hawks.

Payne, Lowe and Allison combined for 12 steals for Brooke Point, which visits North Stafford Tuesday.

Samira Hussaini drew a foul in transition and sank

1-of-2 free throws to put Albemarle ahead for good with four seconds left in a Commonwealth District win.

Bianca Dittman scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half for the Wildcats.

Dittman and Taylor Fernow each had seven rebounds for Mountain View, which hosts Hylton on Monday.
