Prep Boys Basketball: Seniors lead Bears to victory

RIVERBEND 54, NORTH STAFFORD 43

Riverbend seniors Chris Baird and Elijah Brown scored 16 points apiece to lead Riverbend past North Stafford, 54–43, for the first time in their varsity careers.

Zach Sims added 11 points for the Bears and North Stafford was paced by Lyndon White’s 14 points.

Riverbend held North Stafford to single digits in points for three of four quarters.

Eric Washington had 16 points and 15 rebounds to help homestanding Courtland get a nondistrict win.

Da’Shawn Harris scored 18 points, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch, to lead Stafford over Brooke Point.

Julian Swinton led all scorers with 23 points for the Black–Hawks.

Evan Greening and Ryan Jones combined for 25 points for the Indians.

Brooke Point hosts Riverbend on Monday.

Lucas Brown scored all of his team-high 23 points in the second half, including 13 free throws in the fourth quarter, to lead Mountain View past Albemarle.

Tyrus Mason scored 15 points for Mountain View, and Tyrell Mason added 14.

Hermon Hawkins led Albemarle with 15 points, and teammates Logan Ford, De Mallory and Harmon Hawkins reached double-digits for Albemarle.

The Wildcats host Riverbend on Tuesday.

Henry Butler led four players in double-figure scoring with 21 points as Culpeper held off Liberty, 66–59, for a nondistrict win on Friday night.

The Blue Devils forced 26 turnovers and outrebounded their guests 23–20.

Culpeper visits Kettle Run at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
