Marcus Finnie had 19 points and 10 rebounds for James Monroe, as the Yellow Jackets rallied from a nine-point deficit with 2:55 to play to get a 71–67 season-opening Battlefield District win against visiting Spotsylvania on Wednesday night.
Jarmal Bevels added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Tommy Nguyen grabbed six boards, Tony Scott collected four steals and Alex Baker dished out three assists for JM.
The Yellow Jackets host Eastern View on Tuesday.
