PLAYER OF THE YEAR

MICHAEL MEAD

Riverbend junior

Mead had the lowest regular-season stroke average in the Commonwealth District. He carded a 74 to place second in the Northwest Region Tournament and helped lead the Bears to their first-ever state tournament berth.

MEGAN FREDERICK

Riverbend junior

Frederick was a valuable contributor to Riverbend’s team success. She also won her girls state zone qualifier and placed 14th at the girls state open.

JOHNNIE MEALIA

Culpeper senior

Mealia was the Battlefield District’s individual champion this year, and helped Culpeper to a second-place showing at the Region I championship.

DEVON OETERS

Riverbend junior

Oeters—the Commonwealth’s third-best golfer in the regular season—was the district tournament runner-up and tied for seventh in the region.

TANNER OTT

Mountain View senior

Ott placed seventh at the Commonwealth District tournament and shot an 81 at the region championships, missing a state berth by just one stroke.

CHARLIE PEAVLEY

Culpeper senior

Peavley’s second-day round of 70 was the best of the entire Region I tournament, where he was second. He tied with Mealia to finish 18th in Group AA.

The Bears enjoyed the best season in school history, winning the Commonwealth District team title and placing second at the Northwest Region tournament.
