BROOKE POINT

Outlook: The Brooke Point girls team is very young and learning and will use the season to develop. The strength of the boys team will be in the shot, hurdles, sprints and relays. The distance runners are still working to develop more depth.

Outlook: Both Colonial Forge teams will make a run at defending their district championships from last winter. The girls team would like to go a step farther and win the first region title in school history.

Top returners: Girls—So. Jillisa Burke (jumps, mid. distance); So. Helen Gilliam (distance); Sr. Rain McKemie (distance). Boys—Sr. Patrick O’Connor (distance); Sr. Trenton Day (mid. distance); Jr. Chris King (sprints).

Top newcomers: Girls—Jr. Quaneisha Banks (throws); Fr. Brooke Bebout (sprints, jumps); Fr. Taylor Carr (mid. distance); Fr. Kanani Simmons (sprints); Jr. Ava Throstead (mid. distance); Fr. Shannon Woods (distance). Boys—Fr. Otis Clopton (sprints, jumps); Fr. Foxx Early (mid. distance); Jr. Isaiah Ferguson (sprints); Fr. Shamel Gray (sprints, hurdles, jumps).

Outlook: The numbers have exploded for the Hornets this year, from 12 athletes last season to 63 this winter. A district title may be out of reach, but there are many athletes here who have a good shot to advance to regionals.

STAFFORD

Coach: Pete Augrom

Last year: Girls—Fifth in district. Boys—Third in district.

Top returners: Girls—Sr. Hannah Lowery (distance); Jr. Ashley Hinton (pole vault); So. Jillian Weisbeck (distance); Sr. Audrey Braxton (throws). Boys—Sr. Ian MacLeod (distance); Jr. Joey Abbatiello (distance); Jr. Luke Lysher (mid-distance); Sr. Tony Kemp (sprints); Sr. Chris Lansford (throws); Sr. Jeremiah Fletcher (sprints); So. Liam Davis (pole vault).

Top newcomers: Girls—Jr. Sabrina Johnson (Throws); Sr. Ebony Pennant (throws); So. Kyianah Pryor (sprints, jumps); Fr. Bridget Abbatiello (distance). Boys—Fr. Nathan Crabbe (sprints).

Outlook: The boys team is loaded with upperclassmen and will rely on their experience this year. The girls team is looking to improve on last year’s results behind some veteran leaders.

CAROLINE

Coach: Sansberry Harvey

Last year: Girls—Fifth in Region I. Boys—Fourth in Region I.

Outlook: The boys team has many newcomers and a lot of depth, while the girls are young. Both teams should be strong in the jumps.

KING GEORGE

Coach: Rudolph Pekarek

Last year: Girls—Fifth in Region I. Boys—12th in Region I.

Top returners: Girls—Sr. Lindsey Armentrout (pole vault); Sr. Haley Armentrout (distance); Sr. Mia Meyer (hurdles); Jr. Miranda Green (mid. distance); Sr. Jessica Swenson (throws). Boys—Sr. DeMarcus Epps (sprints); So. Jonathon Greshom (pole vault).

Top newcomers: Girls—Nicole Bethune (sprints); Kristen Hornboke (distance).

Outlook: The Foxes’ boys team is very young—80 percent of the roster are freshmen or sophomores. The girls team has a bunch of veteran performers and could contend for the region title.
