Prep Girls Basketball: Orange girls open season with victory

ORANGE 63, NORTH STAFFORD 44

Markiana Smith scored 25 points to lead Orange to a 63–44 Commonwealth District victory against visiting North Stafford on Tuesday.

China Allen–Window led the Wolverines with 22 points.

Kiani Hudgens and Rebecca Harvey each had 10 points for the Hornets, who visit Albemarle on Friday.

Patrice Hounshell added 10 steals and eight assists for the Panthers, who visit Brooke Point on Thursday.

Grace Epps had 12 points to lead the Indians, who take on Hayfield at the Oakton Tip-Off Tournament on Thursday.

Kortni Simmons had 20 points, 15 rebounds and seven steals to help Spotsylvania improve to 2–0 on the season. Bria Carter added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Knights.

On Monday, Simmons had 24 points, 10 steals and eight boards, and Carter provided 18 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for Spotsylvania in a 63–20 win over Louisa.
