UMW Baskeball: Eagles rally but can’t overcome Pride at tourney

The 13t-ranked University of Mary Washington women’s basketball team dropped a 55–41 decision to Greensboro College at the Methodist University Turkey Shootout on Saturday in Fayetteville, N.C.

Trailing by three at halftime, the Eagles made a run, and led, 30-29, with 14:26 left on a layup by freshman Caitie Geoghegan. From there, the Pride went on an 11–3 run, and would hold the lead for the remainder of the game.

Aby Diop had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Eales, while Caitlin Ciniero added 10 points for UMW. Center Carol Dye had seven points and nine rebounds for UMW.

The Eagles (3–1) will face N.C. Wesleyan College today at 3 p.m.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Bradley Riseter scored a team-high 25 points, including 5 of 11 3-point attempts, to lead the Eagles over York College (N.Y.) in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Lamont Fields had 14 points and 10 rebounds in his first collegiate double-double for the Eagles. Jack Hamilton had 15 points and seven rebounds for UMW, while Taylor Johnson also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

UMW (1–2) faces Maryland Bible College today at 1 p.m. in Rocky Mount.
