Fields leads Eagle men to victory

Freshman Lamont Fields scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team to a 68–56 win over Maryland Bible College Sunday in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Fields and sophomore Taylor Johnson (18 points, nine rebounds) were named to the all-tournament team.

The Eagles (2–2) will visit N.C. Wesleyan Wednesday.

Maryland Bible (0–3): Charlie Bowman 16, Todd Johnson 7, Jahmar Graves 2, Jason Reynolds 3, Davon Gardner 6, Quinton Harris 6, Brandon Johnson 16, Michael Gardner 0. Totals: 22 10–23 56.

Mary Washington (2–2): John Yoxthimer 6, Lamont Fields 22, Bradley Riester 12, Jamie Richardson 1, Taylor Johnson 18, Devin Blake 0, Dylan Farinet 3, Conrad Etchi 0, Jack Hamilton 4, Gaither Mason 2, Marcellus Holley 0. Totals: 27 9–12 68.

Junior guard Sam Partonen scored career-high 25 points to lead the Eagles to a win in Fayetteville, N.C.

Aubrey Howland added 13 points and Aby Diop had 14 rebounds for the 13th-ranked Eagles (4–1), who host Washington & Lee Tuesday at 7 p.m.
