NORTHWEST REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS

Stafford added the Northwest Region competitive cheer title to the Commonwealth District crown it won earlier.

The Indians placed first with 277.5 points in Saturday’s regional competition at William Fleming High School in Roanoke. Franklin County (267) was second, Broad Run (259.5) third and Osbourn Park (255) fourth. Those four teams advanced to this Saturday’s Group AAA competition at VCU.

Mountain View, Colonial Forge and North Stafford also represented the Commonwealth District at regionals.

VOLLEYBALL

JAMESTOWN 3, EASTERN VIEW 0

Jamestown cruised to a 25–5, 25–13, 25–10 win against visiting Eastern View in the Region I quarterfinals on Monday.

Briana Sutton had 12 aces and seven kills, Monique St. Cyr added 23 assists and six aces for the Eagles (25–2), who advance to the semifinal round. The Cyclones conclude their season with an 11–12 record.
