PANTHERS SECURE BERTH IN REGIONALS

VOLLEYBALL

MASSAPONAX 3, NORTH STAFFORD 0

Colleen Beaver had 10 kills and six blocks, while Rachel Jankovits added nine kills, seven digs and three aces for the Massaponax volleyball team in a 25–19, 25–12, 25–20 win over visiting North Stafford in the consolation game of the Commonwealth District tournament on Thursday.

The win advances the Panthers (14–12) to the Northwest Region tournament where they will visit a to-be-determined opponent Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Satterwhite had 15 assists and three aces, and Sabrina Torres chipped in five digs, four aces and three kills for Massaponax.

VOLLEYBALL

ALBEMARLE 3, COLONIAL FORGE 1

Brooke Sanders had 37 assists and two aces, and Hope Kelley totaled 14 digs and 11 kills for visiting Colonial Forge, but top-seeded Albemarle captured a 25–19, 25–18, 19–25, 26–24 win in the Commonwealth District tournament final.

Other leaders for the Eagles (20–9) were Maddie Scovell with 10 kills, Nori Thomas with seven kills, Leandra Tranquill with nine blocks, and Jenna Ulizio with 11 digs and two aces.

Colonial Forge will host a Northwest Region first-round match on Saturday at 3 p.m.

FREDERICKSBURG CHRISTIAN 3, SETON 0

Ashlee Middleton doled out 35 assists and Mary Katherine Pressley added 11 kills and four blocks to help homestanding Fredericksburg Christian get a 25–23, 25–9, 25–20 Delaney Athletic Conference semifinal win.

Brittany Burton supplied nine kills and four blocks, and Gabby Vess 13 kills for the Eagles (14–9), who visit Highland in the DAC championship today at 5 p.m.

FIELD HOCKEY

STAFFORD 4, WOODBRIDGE 2

Audre Braxton had two goals, while Lindsey Lysher and Cassie Hooghouse added a goal an assist each for Stafford in a Northwest Region semifinal played at Patriot High School.

The Indians (16–5) clinched a Group AAA state playoff spot with the win.

Ravyn Tines and Kelly Ludwig scored for Woodbridge.

Gail Podlesny and Natalie Bohmke each provided an assist for Stafford, which visits Mountain View in today’s region final.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 5, FOREST PARK 1

Olivia Hubert and Caity Maffia had a goal and an assist each, and Bailey McCarthy provided two assists to help top-seeded Mountain View get a Northwest Region semifinal win.

Bryce Barnes, Morgan Lowry and McKenzie Cox also scored for the Wildcats (21–0), who host today’s region final against Stafford.

FREDERICKSBURG CHRISTIAN 3,

HIGHLAND 2 (STROKES)

After finishing regulation and overtime tied 2–2, Madeline Santschi scored in sudden-death strokes and goalie Brigitte Root stopped Highland’s next shot to give Fredericksburg Christian a Delaney Athletic Conference win.

Celestia Lorei and Anna Marshall scored goals, and Katelyn Young and Santschi provided assists for the Eagles (5–8).

GIRLS TENNIS

FREDERICKSBURG ACADEMY 4 SETON 0

Fredericksburg Academy won a Delaney Athletic Conference semifinal. The Falcons host the district final today, at 5 p.m., at the University of Mary Washington.

    Singles: Emma Vance (FA) wins by forfeit over Emily Heim, Kendra Nedell (FA) d. Mary Remington 8–3, Sam King (FA) d. Fiona Geston 8–3, Amanda Smithson (FA) d. Jesse Krynitsky 8–0.
