Prep Football: Chargers’ offense puts up big night

The Chancellor Chargers regained the services of quarterback Darrin Jackson last night and served notices to the rest of the Battlefield District and anyone they might face in the playoffs that they now possess the explosiveness to score at anytime and from anywhere on the field.
Coming back from an ankle sprain, Jackson completed all four of his pass attempts for 160 yards and three touchdowns in a 42–13 victory over Spotsylvania.
The senior shared the spotlight with Dominic Kaopua, who rushed for a career-high 204 yards while scoring on electrifying runs covering 69 and 53 yards.
“You have to give it to the line. They were driving the defensive line 10 yards off the ball and the rest of it was me,” Kaopua said. “We ran the right side pretty much the whole game.”
Already blessed with a strong defense, the Chargers (6–2, 4–1) amassed over 500 yards of offense, including six plays that covered 50 or more yards. At halftime, Chancellor led 28–0 with an impressive 318 yards.
Chancellor slowed down a bit in the second half. Kaopua scored his second TD on the Chargers’ first play from scrimmage with teammate Brandon Cavalier throwing a key block to ensure the score. Tyler Morton found daylight to the outside after hauling in Jackson’s pass over the middle to complete a 55-yard scoring play for his second touchdown.
The Knights (2–6, 1–4) showed considerable spunk by scoring a pair of second-half TDs, one following a fumble recovery and the other on a stellar individual effort by quarterback Ashten Dixon, who scrambled to his left before finding Clinton Ferguson alone in the end zone.
