UMW Field Hockey: Abernathy paces Eagles

Amy Abernathy scored two goals to lead the seventh-ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team to a 4–2 win at host Johns Hopkins Thursday night. in Baltimore.
Lisa Charney scored off a penalty stroke, and Christine Downie also tallied a goal and an assist for the Mary Washington.
The Eagles led in shots, 27–21, while Johns Hopkins led in penalty corners, 11–5. Claire Gianelle had a season-high 14 saves in goal for the Eagles (13–1), who visit top-ranked Salisbury University in a battle for first place in the Capital Athletic Conference Saturday at 6 p.m
