FIELD HOCKEY

COLONIAL FORGE 1, BROOKE POINT 0

The visiting Colonial Forge field hockey team scored a goal midway through the first half and held of Brooke Point from there to get a 1–0 Commonwealth District win on Wednesday.

Maddie Davis had 17 saves in goal for the Black–Hawks (9–3), who play at Stafford on Tuesday.

The Eagles improved to 9–3.

KING GEORGE 3, CULPEPER 0

Mia Meyer had two goals and an assists to lead homestanding King George to a Battlefield District win.

Shelby King also scored, while Liz Hill, Shelby King and Lucy Shippee led the defense for the Foxes (5–4 district), who host Spotsylvania on Monday.

COURTLAND 2, EASTERN VIEW 1

Emily Zaluzney had a goal and an assists and goalie Claire King registered eight saves to help Courtland get a Battlefield District home win.

Annamarie Kondek also scored and Taylor Ryan added an assist for the Cougars (10–2, 8–2), who visit country-rival Chancellor on Monday.

Kara Peters scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils.

CHANCELLOR 13, CAROLINE 0

Chloe Fernandez notched three goals and two assists, and Kate Colley also tallied three goals as visiting Chancellor won a Battlefield District game that also raised money to benefit Travis Compher, a Caroline Middle School student battling leukemia.

Chelsea Galera and Jordan Rasure each scored twice, while Erin Bushman, Ashanti Wright and Kaila Bernard each collected their first goals for the Chargers (10–2, 10–0). Katherine Hull (two), Galera, Bushman and Kenzie Neylon added assists.

Goalie Paige Simulcik made 30 saves and Taylor Verne recorded four defensive saves for the Cavaliers (0–10, 1–12), who visit Eastern View on Monday.

CROSS COUNTRY

TRI-MEET AT PRATT PARK

Ted Bailey won the boys cross country race and Sawyer Czarneck finished third to help Spotsylvania (22) top Culpeper (53) and James Monroe (59) in a Battlefield District tri-meet held at Pratt Park.

The Knight girls did not have enough runners to record a team score, but Emmie Schmitt cruised to an individual win for Spotsylvania, while JM’s girls outscored the Blue Devils 22–39.

TUESDAY’S RESULTS

VOLLEYBALL

KING GEORGE 3, JAMES MONROE 1

Amber Smith had 11 kills, eight blocks and six assists, and Lea Howard had 21 assists to help King George get a 25–14, 25–22, 22–25, 25–18 Battlefield District victory.

Shativa Harvey added eight kills and five blocks, while Lauren Howard provided 11 digs and good passing for the Foxes (6–6, 2–4), who visit Chancellor tonight.
