CULPEPER GOLF REACHES STATE TOURNAMENT

The Culpeper golf team shot a 303 during Tuesday’s second day of the Region I golf tournament at Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg to finish in second place and earn a spot in the Group AA state tournament.
The Blue Devils opened with a score of 323 in Monday’s first round and finished with a two-day score of 626 to finish behind champion Jamestown (613).
King George (687) finished in seventh place, while Eastern View (760) was eighth.
Lafayette’s Zach Weaver carded a two-day total of 144 to edge out the Blue Devils’ Charlie Peavley (146) for the individual region title.
The state tournament is next Monday and Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg.

COURTLAND 3, CAROLINE 0
Brooke Cooper and Bianca Rumbaugh had 11 assists each to help visiting Courtland get a 25–10, 25–7, 25–13 Battlefield District win.
Emily Jordan provided six kills and three blocks, and Anna Gallup added seven kills for the Cougars (10–5, 6–0), who host Culpeper on Thursday.
Ayana Clayton totaled four kills and four digs, Brooke Brooks chipped in 12 digs and Bo Hayes added four kills for the Cavaliers (1–6 district).
COLONIAL FORGE 3, STAFFORD 0
Brooke Sanders had 13 assists and six kills, and Hope Kelley supplied five kills, five digs and two aces for homestanding Colonial Forge in a 25–14, 25–3, 25–15 Commonwealth District win.
Pressley Maghan added 13 assists and two aces, and Nori Thomas registered six kills for the Eagles (14–7, 10–1), who visit Brooke Point on Thursday.
India Kithcart and Dana Lee played well for the Indians (5–9, 1–9), who host Riverbend on Thursday.
MASSAPONAX 3, MOUNTAIN VIEW 0
Colleen Beaver had seven aces and five blocks, and Ashley Nimon collected six digs to help visiting Massaponax get a 25–10, 25–15, 25–17 Commonwealth District win.
Rachel Jankovits added 12 kills and nine digs, and Ashley Satterwhite doled out 21 assists for the Panthers (10–8, 5–6), who host a “Dig Pink” match against North Stafford on Thursday.
ALBEMARLE 3, NORTH STAFFORD 0
Tiffany Barrett recorded eight digs and four kills to lead North Stafford, but Albemarle earned a 25–12, 25–6, 25–15 Commonwealth District win.
Capri Clark had five blocks and Abby Rosa added four for the Wolverines (9–6, 6–6), who travel to Massaponax on Thursday.
RAPPAHANNOCK 3, COLONIAL BEACH 0
Meghan Seaman had seven attacks and two kills for Colonial Beach despite falling 25–12, 25–9, 25–11 in Northern Neck District play.
The Drifters visit Essex today.
RIVERBEND 3, ORANGE 1
Miranda Mitchell had 11 digs, eight kills and five aces, and Ana Torres contributed 12 digs, four aces and seven kills in Riverbend’s 25–16, 26–9, 24–26, 25–20 Commonwealth District win.
Other leaders for the Bears (9–4, 6–4) were Danielle Deiters with 26 assists, four kills and three aces, Becca Statler with 25 digs and six aces, and Shadae Strother with seven kills.
Riverbend visits Stafford on Thursday.
FIELD HOCKEY
RIVERBEND 4, ORANGE 1
Lauren Liberman had a goal and an assist, and Haley McMahon dished out two assists to help Riverbend get a Commonwealth District home win.
Avery Warner, Jessica Liberman and Emily Michaelis also scored, and Morgan King contributed an assist for the Bears (3–6), who travel to Stafford on Thursday.
Anna Bosworth scored the lone goal for the Hornets.
STAFFORD 4, COLONIAL FORGE 2
Morgan French, Katie Beuell, Cassie Hooghouse and McKenzie Bowler each had a goal to lift Stafford to a Commonwealth District win at Colonial Forge.
Amy Dziekowitz and Christine Reiman scored for the Eagles.
Hooghouse and Audrey Braxton had one assist each, while Lindsey Lysher had two for the Indians (8–3), who host Riverbend on Thursday.
MOUNTAIN VIEW 6, MASSAPONAX 0
Bailey Hubert scored twice and Caity Maffia had two assists to help homestanding Mountain View remain unbeaten with a Commonwealth District win.
Bryce Barnes, Gretchen Geisler, Emily Johnson and Emily Reinwald also scored for the Wildcats (10–0), who also got one assist from Morgan LaRowe.
Mountain View visits Orange on Thursday.
NORTH STAFFORD 1, ALBEMARLE 0 (STROKES)
Tadria Cochran made nine saves in goal and saved all but one stroke after the game remained scoreless through overtime to give North Stafford a Commonwealth District win.
Erika Fernandez, Sam Barbarczuk and Sammi Humphrey each converted their strokes for the Wolverines (3–7), who visit Massaponax on Thursday.
