Prep Roundup: Knights earn district sweep

GRAHAM, SPOTSYLVANIA EARN VOLLEYBALL WIN OVER CHANCELLOR

SPOTSYLVANIA 3, CHANCELLOR 0

Katie Graham had 18 digs and 10 kills, and Caitlin Chmielewski provided 30 assists, six digs, three aces and two kills to help homestanding Spotsylvania get a 25–23, 25–20, 25–23 Battlefield District volleyball win over Chancellor on Monday.

Calli Stott totaled 17 digs and seven kills, while Courtney Chmielewski registered seven kills and four digs for the Knights (5–6, 5–1).

Emily Green had 14 assists and Riley Pates added 11 for the Chargers (5–10, 4–2).

On Thursday, Spotsylvania visits Caroline and Chancellor host King George.

FREDERICKSBURG CHRISTIAN 3, WAKEFIELD 0

Mary Kathryn Pressley had eight kills and Marnie Streeter added seven for Fredericksburg Christian in a 25–9, 25–21, 25–15 Delaney Athletic Conference win.

Ashlee Middleton directed the attack with 29 assists for the Eagles (8–6, 1–0), who host Seton on Thursday.

ALBEMARLE 3, BROOKE POINT 0

Desiree Claxton had 10 digs and six kills for Brooke Point, but visiting Albemarle remained unbeaten in Commonwealth District play with a 25–12, 25–16, 25–15 victory.

Lindsay Harrison provided 14 digs and freshman Abby Harris stepped up with six digs and two kills for the Black–Hawks (12–2, 8–2), who entertain Colonial Forge for “Dig Pink Night” on Thursday.

MASSAPONAX 3, COURTLAND 0

Ashley Satterwhile had 21 assists, and Rachel Jankovits provided 11 digs and 10 kills to help Massaponax get a 25–23, 25–22, 25–21 nondistrict win.

Kailyn Sonnenberg added 17 digs and two aces for the Panthers (9–8).

Leaders for the Cougars (9–5) were Anna Gallup with 13 digs and eight kills, McKay Richardson with 16 digs, Bianca Rumbaugh with 22 assists and Josie Till with five kills.

Tonight, Massaponax visits Mountain View and Courtland visits Caroline.

FIELD HOCKEY

BROOKE POINT 4, ALBEMARLE 1

Kristen Johnson scored twice and Taylor Hays and Liz Washington also had goals in the Black-Hawks’ Commonwealth District victory.

Caitlin Flinn had two assists and Kate Kennedy and Hannah Infanti one each for Brooke Point. Bailey Bush scored for Albemarle.

Brooke Point (9–2) will host Colonial Forge Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a “Score for the Cure” game to benefit the American Cancer Society. Admission will be $6.

FREDERICKSBURG ACADEMY 6, WAKEFIELD 0

Meghan Norair and Catherine Estes each scored twice, and Carolyn Topps doled out three assists to help Fredericksburg Burg Academy get a Delaney Athletic Conference home win.

Greer Stewart and Kirstie Harry also scored for the Falcons (8–1, 3-0), who visit Foxcroft on Thursday.

CHANCELLOR 6, CULPEPER 0

Chloe Fernandez had three goals and Katherine Hull two assists to help visiting Chancellor secure a Battlefield District win.

Chelsea Galera and Jordan Rasure had a goal and an assist each, while Kate Colley added a scored and Kenzie Neylon an assist for the Chargers (9–2, 9–0), who visit Caroline on Wednesday.
