UMW Roundup: Baseball team gets new skipper
FROM STAFF REPORTS
BASEBALL
Former Shepherd (W.Va,) baseball coach Wayne Riser has accepted the same position at the University of Mary Washington.
Riser succeeds Tom Sheridan, who resigned last month to become associate head coach at Division I George Washington University.
Riser won 512 games in 22 seasons at Shepherd, more than any coach in any sport in the school’s history. The Rams won 33 games in 2012 and played in the NCAA Division II tournament for the fifth time in his tenure.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
The Eagles dropped a 3–2 decision to Virginia Wesleyan. Game scores were 19–25, 25–23, 25–15, 22–25, 15–12.
Kayla Crawford had 12 kills to pace the Eagles, who host Salisbury University in a Capital Athletic Conference game Wednesday.
