FIELD HOCKEY
JAMES MONROE 3, COURTLAND 0
Sarah Miller scored twice to help James Monroe get a 3–0 Battlefield District field hockey win against visiting Courtland on Monday.
Sarah Frank assisted Miller’s first score on a corner two minutes into the game. Miranda Rigg then scored on an assist from Catesby Willis give the Yellow Jackets (6–0) a 2–0 lead at the half.
Miller finished off the scoring by converting a second-half penalty stroke.
SPOTSYLVANIA 3, CULPEPER 1
Logan Wolfe, Gianna Castellino and Kristin Goff each scored goals in Spotsylvania’s Battlefield District victory. Caroline Sorrell, Kristiana Kuqi and Brittney Hayden also provided solid play at both ends of the field for the Knights.
CHANCELLOR 6, EASTERN VIEW 0
Kate Colley had three goals, Chloe Fernandez scored twice, and Katherine Hull also had a goal to lead Chancellor.
Hull and Fernandez had two assists, and Colley and Galera had one assist each.
Eastern View goalie Alexis Knipfer made 22 saves.
Chancellor (5–0) hosts James Monroe on Wednesday.
KING GEORGE 6, CAROLINE 0
Mia Meyer had two goals and two assists, and Meghan Yanchulis provided two goals and one assist for King George in a Battlefield District win.
Jackie Collins and Nicole Wood also scored for the Foxes.
Goalie Paige Simulcik made 33 saves for the Cavaliers and Cassandra Cooper also played well.
VOLLEYBALL
BROOKE POINT 3, SPOTSYLVANIA 0
Jasmine Jones had a solid all-around match with six blocks, four aces, four kills and two digs to help visiting Brooke Point get a 25–18, 25–21, 25–21 nondistrict win over the Knights.
Other leaders for the Black–Hawks (8–1) were Dsiree Claxton with seven digs, four kills and three blocks; Cori Jacobsen with seven kills and four digs; Stephanie Buccola with six digs; and Brooke Nieset with six digs and a solid serve-receive effort as libero.
Leaders for the Knights (1–6) were Katie Graham with 10 digs, five kills and two aces; Calli Stott with nine kills and seven digs; Andrea Carroll with 14 digs; and Caroline Crossman with nine digs.
Tonight, Brooke Point hosts Albemarle and Spotsylvania visits James Monroe.
STAFFORD 3, JAMES MONROE 0
Dana Lee had 12 aces to help visiting Stafford get a 25–15, 23–25, 25–20, 25–6 nondistrict win over James Monroe.
Stephanie Lambertson added six aces and India Kithcart seven kills for the Indians (5–5), who visit Mountain View in a Commonwealth District match tonight.
