Mia Meyer scored in the second overtime to lift visiting King George over Spotsylvania, 2–1, in Battlefield District field hockey action on Thursday.

Meghan Yanchulis had the other scores for the Foxes, who visit Caroline on Monday.

Gianna Castellino scored in the second half for Spotsylvania to force overtime, but visiting King George scored in the second extra period to get the Battlefield District win.

Brittany Hayden and Jelisa Aguila provided solid defense for the Knights.

FIELD HOCKEY

STAFFORD 7, ORANGE 0

Lindsey Lysher had 3 goals and one assist, and Brooke Harmon and Gail Podlesny added one goal and one assist each in Stafford’s Commonwealth District home win.

Katie Deuell and Aubrey Braxton also scored, while McKenzie Bowler (two), Natalie Bohmke and Taylor Hoppe added assists for the Indians (4–2, 4–2).

Stafford visits Mountain View on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

GOLF

TRI-MATCH AT LOW

Riverbend shot a 165 to defeat Orange (176) and Massaponax (197) in a Commonwealth District match on the Front 9 at Lake of the Woods. The Bears’ Megan Frederick won medalist honors, carding a two-over par 38.

The Hornets record goes to 2–17–1 overall (1–7 district).

Spotsylvania’s Conner McWhirt shot a 40 to win individual medalist honors, but the Knights (2–3 Battlefield District) fell to Eastern View in district play.
