Pro Baseball: Locals in the pros

  • North Stafford graduate John Maine took the loss in Scranton–Wilkes–Barre’s 7–4 loss to Pawtucket Wednesday night in the opener of their best-of-five International League playoff series. Maine, who had an 8–5 record and a 4.97 ERA during the regular-season, allowed five earned runs in 4 innings, striking out six.

  • Colonial Forge grad Jarrett Parker went 3 for 8 as San Jose lost its best-of-three Class-A California League playoff series to Modesto, 2–1. Parker hit .247 in the regular season with 15 home runs, 67 RBIs and 28 steals.
  • Mountain View grad Kyle Haynes earned a victory in Class-A State College (Pa.)’s season finale to finish with a 3–2 record, a 4.05 ERA and eight saves in 21 appearances.

  • Spotsylvania grad Cody Wheeler was 3–0 with a 1.87 ERA in 11 appearances for Class-A Yakima (Wash.)
  • In his first season since elbow surgery, Stafford grad Adam Lopez was 1–0 with a 2.51 ERA and a save in 13 Class-A outings.
  • King George grad Damion Carroll went 1–0 with a 2.33 ERA in 10 appearances for the rookie Gulf Coast Rays.
  • Colonial Forge grad Levi Hyams hit .254 with five homers, 28 RBis and seven steals for rookie-league Danville.
