Prep Roundup: Chargers, Jackets, Cougars get district wins

CHANCELLOR 9, CULPEPER 0
Kate Colley had four goals and freshman Jordan Rasure registered her first varsity tally to lead Chancellor to a 9–0 Battlefield District field hockey win against Culpeper on Wednesday.
Chelsea Galera had two goals and four assists, while Kenzie Neylon and Katherine Hull also had goals. Chloe Fernandez (three), Greer Trainham (two) and Kaila Bernard had assists for the Chargers (2–0, 2–0).
Chancellor hosts Caroline on Monday.
JAMES MONROE 10, CAROLINE 0
Sarah Schmitz had two goals and one assist, and Miranda Rigg tallied twice in visiting James Monroe’s Battlefield District win.
Sarah Frank, Sarah Miller, Rebecca Hamlett, L.C. King, Hanna Fisher and Cleo Morris also scored for the Yellow Jackets. Frank, Schmitz, King, Allison Black, Mackenzie Atkins and Erin Cunningham added assists.
COURTLAND 5, SPOTSYLVANIA 1
Katie Quinn tallied three goals and Taylor Ryan collected two assists to help Courtland get a Battlefield District home win.
Emily Zaluzney and Annamarie Kondek also scored for the Cougars (4–0, 2–0), who visit Eastern View on Monday.
STAFFORD 3, JAMES MONROE 0
Anna Borkowski, Heather Wilson and Kristen Weadon all played well in Stafford’s 25–8, 25–17, 25–15 nondistrict win against visiting James Monroe. The Indians (3–3) host Brooke Point tonight.
RIVERBEND 3, NORTH STAFFORD 1
Miranda Mitchell had 12 kills and eight digs, and Brett Pettus provided nine kills and six digs in homestanding Riverbend’s 25–15, 23–25, 25–16, 25–22 Commonwealth District win.
Shadae Strother added seven kills and three blocks; Ana Torres four kills, four assists and three aces; and Brittany Jacobs five kills and two blocks for the Bears (5–1, 3–1), who host Mountain View on Tuesday.
Ebonie Hicks had 17 assists, Tiffany Barrett 13 kills and 11 digs, and Alexandra Sosik 12 digs and eight kills for the Wolverines (3–3, 2–3), who visit Freedom on Monday.
NORTHERN NECK MEET
Washington & Lee swept the boys and girls meets in the meet hosted by the Eagles. The W&L boys scored 24 points, to top Lancaster (34), Northumberland (71) and Essex (99). The Eagles’ girls scored 21 points to beat Lancaster (52) and Essex (56).
W&L’s Kathryn Beddoo won the girls race. Lancaster won the individual boys race, but the Eagles took second and then fifth through seventh.
MASSAPONAX 5, NORTH STAFFORD 2
Katie Brennan and Kelly McNult scored two goals each and McKenzie Raines also scored as the Panthers earned a Commonwealth District win.
Massaponax plays at Orange on Thursday.
