Prep Football Roundup: Quick start boosts Wildcats


Mountain View raced to a 27–0 first-quarter lead and went on to hand Osbourn a 39–7 non-district loss Friday in Manassas.

Gordon Collins, Kirron Sleydin and Brandon Watts all ran for first-quarter touchdowns, and Elijah Burress threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Dalton Fraser kicked two second-half field goals for the Wildcats (2–0), who host North Stafford in their Commonwealth District opener next Friday.

Dion Gonzalez led the way for visiting Colonial Beach in a 37–12 season-opening win over Charles City on Friday.

Gonzalez finished with 17 carries for 228 yards and two touchdowns for the Drifters (1–0), who host King George next Friday.

Despite 10 receptions for 252 yards by Tyus White, the Black-Hawks lost a non-district road game.

Quarterback Alex Cox threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, including 57- and 53-yard scoring strikes to White. Aaron Sanders had the other TD catch, and John Horsley ran for 118 yards and a touchdown.

Brooke Point (0–2) hosts Riverbend in its Commonwealth District opener next Friday.
