Baseball: Locals in the pros

  • North Stafford graduate John Maine did not allow an earned run in two wins last week for Triple-A Scranton–Wilkes–Barre. Maine (7–5, 5.45 ERA) pitched six scoreless innings in a 6–0 victory over Rochester Sunday and gave up two unearned runs in six innings in a 6–4 win over Buffalo Friday.

  • Colonial Forge grad Jarrett Parker hit a grand slam in Class-A San Jose’s 10–6 win over Stockton Sunday. He’s batting ,241 with 14 homers, 60 RBIs and 25 stolen bases.
  • King George grad Damion Carroll completed the longest stint of his professional career Tuesday, allowing one run and one hit in four innings for the rookie Gulf Coast Rays. He’s 1–0 with a 2.33 ERA in 10 appearances.
  • Colonial Forge grad Levi Hyams went 3 for 5 with two doubles and two runs scored in rookie-league Danville’s 7–5 loss to Princeton Tuesday. He’s batting .241 with five homers, 27 RBIs and seven steals.
  • Mountain View grad Kyle Haynes is 2–2 with a 4.98 ERA and six saves in 17 outings for Class-A State College (Pa.).
