Baseball: Locals in the pros

  • Despite allowing two runs in two innings, Mountain View High School graduate Kyle Haynes earned his first pro victory in Class-A State College (Pa.)’s 9–8 win over Batavia Monday. Haynes is 1–0 with three saves and a 5.27 ERA in 13 relief appearances.

  • Stafford grad Adam Lopez also earned his first pro win Friday with a scoreless inning in Bristol’s 3–1 rookie-league win over Kingsport. Lopez is 1–0 with a 4.50 ERA in five outings.
  • North Stafford grad John Maine earned a no-decision for Triple-A Scranton–Wilkes–Barre Wednesday, allowing three runs in six innings against Charlotte. He’s 4–3 with a 5.90 ERA.
  • Colonial Forge grad Jarrett Parker is batting .324 over his last 10 games at Class-A San Jose, raising his season average to .246 with eight homers, 36 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.
  • Spotsylvania grad Cody Wheeler is 3–0 with a 2.23 ERA in eight starts for Class-A Yakima (Wash.).
  • Colonial Forge grad Levi Hyams is batting .175 at rookie-league Danville with three homers and 15 RBIs.
  • King George grad Damion Carroll is 1–0 with a 1.93 ERA in six appearances for the rookie-league Gulf Coast League Rays.
