Spotsylvania High School grad Cody Wheeler earned his first professional win, working 5 innings in Class-A Yakima’s 4–2 win over Tri-City Thursday. He’s 1–0 with a 1.17 ERA in three starts since missing a year following elbow surgery.
North Stafford grad John Maine rebounded from a forgettable start with a memorable one. Five days after allowing Indianapolis six runs in one-third of an inning, Maine pitched five scoreless innings in Triple-A Scranton–Wilkes-Barre’s 11–5 win over Gwinnett Thursday. He’s 2–2 with a 6.55 ERA.
Stafford grad Adam Lopez pitched a scoreless inning of relief in his professional début in rookie-league Bristol’s 9–0 loss to Elizabethton Tuesday night. On Friday, he allowed two runs in one inning against Princeton.
Chancellor grad Justin Moore was released by the Baltimore Orioles last week, five years after they drafted him. Moore was 1–6 with an 8.05 ERA in nine Class-A starts.
Colonial Forge grad Jarrett Parker is batting .248 at Class-A San Jose with seven home runs, 25 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
Colonial Forge grad Levi Hyams homered in three straight games for rookie-league Danville and is batting .226 with 11 RBIs.
Mountain View grad Kyle Haynes hasn’t allowed a run in three one-inning appearances for rookie-league State College (Pa.).
Mary Washington grad Perker Talbert is 1–1 with a 5.91 ERA and Brooke Point grad Evan Houde has a 7.71 ERA in three relief appearances for the Alpine Cowboys of the independent Pecos League.
