Pro Baseball: Locals in the pros

  • In his first pro appearance in nearly a year, North Stafford grad John Maine earned the win in Triple-A Scranton–Wilkes–Barre’s 9–7 victory over Louisville Tuesday. He struck out four and allowed three runs (two earned) in three relief innings.

  • Chancellor grad Justin Moore allowed one run in six innings to earn his first victory of the season in Class-A Delmarva’s 13–1 romp over Lakewood last Saturday, but lost 4–0 to Kannapolis Friday. He’s a combined 1–6 with an 8.05 ERA at Delmarva and Class-A Frederick.
  • Colonial forge grad Jarrett Parker continued his surge by going 2 for 2 in Class-A San Jose’s 6–4 loss to Modesto Friday. He’s batting .424 over his last 10 games, raising his season average to .264 with six homers, 23 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
  • University of Mary Washington grad Parker Talbert is 1–1 with a 6.75 ERA in four games for the Alpine (Texas) Cowboys of the independent Pecos League. Teammate Evan Houde (Brooke Point) has pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
  • Scheduled to make their professional débuts this week in the rookie Appalachian League are recent draftees Levi Hyams (Colonial Forge) in Danville, Adam Lopez (Stafford) in Bristol and Kyle Haynes (Moutain View) in State College, Pa.
