Maine earns first win in a year

BATAVIA, N.Y.—North Stafford High School graduate John Maine earned his first professional victory in more than a year in Scranton-Wilkes-Barre’s 9–7 International League win over Louisville Tuesday.

Maine, whose career with the New York Mets was cut short by 2010 shoulder surgery, signed a minor-league contract with the New York Yankees last month after earlier stints with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox. He struck out four in three innings of relief Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned).
