Local Soccer: Hotspur salvage tie with Dynamo
The Fredericksburg Hotspur Premier Development League team scored in second-half stoppage time to earn a 2–2 tie with the Carolina Dynamo in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader at the University of Mary Washington.
Karel Manrau headed home a cross from Nate Shiffman after Fredericksburg fell behind 2–1.
Shiffman converted a penalty kick to give the Hotspur (4–0–2) a 1–0 lead early in the second half after they went down a man after receiving a red card.
In the opener, the W-League Impact fought valiantly, but fell to the visiting D.C. United Women 3–2.
Becca Wann scored her third goal in two games to tie the score 1–1 for the Impact (3–1–0). United went ahead 3–1 before Sandra Matute netted a penalty kick for the hosts.
The Hostpur host the West Virginia Chaos on Tuesday, at 6 p.m., while the Impact entertain the Dayton Dutch Lions on Thursday at 6 p.m.
