Three more area players drafted

Three more area baseball players were drafted on Wednesday.

Colonial Forge grad Levi Hyams went in the 19th round to the Atlanta Braves, Mountain View’s Kyle Haynes in the 20th round to the Pirates, and Stafford’s Adam Lopez in the 21s round to the Chicago White Sox.

Hyams started for three seasons as an infielder at the University of Georgia, batting .250 as a senior after a stellar junior season.

Haynes, a right-handed pitcher, was 4-4 with a 4.45 ERA in his junior season at VCU.

Lopez returned from Tommy John surgery to go 1-3 with an 8.40 ERA in his senior season at VMI but has the size (6-5, 220) that impressed pro scouts.

King George High School senior Damion Carroll was chosen in the sixth round by Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
