High school roundup: Wolverines rally for lacrosse win

Keenan Wilson had two goals and two assists, and Alex Boyd provided three goals and one assist as North Stafford rallied for a 12–11 Commonwealth District boys lacrosse semifinal win over Mountain View Monday.

Mountain View led by five early before the Wolverines (10–5) rallied to tie and eventually take a 12–9 in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats then cut their deficit to one, but North Stafford was able to possess the ball for the final four minutes to run out the clock.

Corey Ohlin registered three goals and one assist, and Sean Rockx added two goals and two assists for Mountain View.

The Wolverines visit top-seeded Colonial Forge on Wednesday in the district final.

GIRLS TENNIS

RIVERBEND 5, OSBOURN 1

Riverbend moved into the Northwest Region semifinals with Monday’s win over Osbourn.

The Bears (20–0) will face the winner of Tuesday’s rescheduled quarterfinal between Colonial Forge and Osbourn Park on Wednesday.

BOYS TENNIS

BROAD RUN 5, RIVERBEND 4

Trailing 4–2 after singles play, Riverbend won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches to tie the score before falling at No. 3 doubles in a Northwest Region quarterfinal loss at Fredericksburg Country Club.

It was the second straight loss for the Bears (18–2).

BOYS SOCCER

ESSEX 5, RAPPAHANNOCK 1

Brock Williams had two goals and three assists to lead homestanding Essex to a Northern Neck District win.

Jacob Slaughter netted two goals, Patrick Martin had a goal and an assists, and Camden Hilton provided on assist for the Trojans (11–3–1, 4–3), who close out the regular season at Northumberland on Friday.

SOFTBALL

RAPPAHANNOCK 5, ESSEX 0

Jomeisha Fulcher and Taylor Lee had the only hits for visiting Essex in a Northern Neck District loss. The Trojans (10–9, 2–7) visit Essex on Wednesday.

Mitchell Hale had four hits and scored twice to lead the Raiders to a Northern Neck District victory.

Nick Graves doubled twice and drove home Sidney Horton with the only run for the Drifters (2–7, 10–9), who will host a rematch with Rappahannock Wednesday.

Bradnon Chenault pitched seven innings and struck out nine batters to lead Fredericksburg Christian to its second straight Delaney Athletic Conference championship. Nate Lewis went 3-for-4 with a double for the Eagles (10–11, 8–1).
