UMW: Eagles advance in CAC lacrosse tournament

Catherine Kennedy set a new school mark with 11 goals as the 13th-ranked University of Mary Washington women’s locrosse team beat Marymount 24–13 in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament Saturday.

The Eagles will visit No. 12 York College at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the CAC tournament semifinals.

SOFTBALL

The Eagles fell to Salisbury, 3–0, and to Frostburg State University, 2–1, in the CAC tournament Saturday, resulting in their elimination. The Eagles (24–18) will close the season on Wednesday at Catholic University.

TRACK AND FIELD

Paige Kelly’s first-place finish in the 200 and Sean Healy’s winning time in the 5,000 were the highlights for the Eagles at Gettysburg College Invitational Saturday.

Both the men’s and women’s teams finished third in the CAC standings, and will compete in the CAC championship May 5–6 in Frostburg, Md.
