Prep Softball: Panthers rally in sixth inning

MASSAPONAX 4, ORANGE 3

Paige Janson and Morgan Cawthon each had a hit and an RBI, and Mavien McKnight had a single in Massaponax’s four-run sixth inning, as the Panthers earned a 4–3 Commonwealth Distrit win against Orange last night.

Danielle Wallace had two hits for Orange.

Massaponax (4–5, 3–3) plays at Colonial Forge on Thursday.

NORTH STAFFORD 10, RIVERBEND 7

Jess Nowak went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored to help North Stafford hold on for a Commonwealth District win.

Kelsie Barker struck out her 500th career batter on the mound and added two hits at the plate, along with Beth Kelley and Ashleigh Neville for the Wolverines (7–0, 6–0).

Becky Schneider finished 2-for-4 with a homer, a double and five RBIs for the Bears (3–4). Taylor Subacius and Brittany Jacobs added two hits each.

On Tuesday, North Stafford visits Brooke Point and Riverbend hosts Mountain View.

Taylor Lee earned the win on the mound and finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored with the bat for Colonial Beach.

Madison Gorfida went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI, and Kristina Smallwood added two hits for the Drifters (6–1), who visit Washington & Lee on April 11.
