Prep Soccer: Knights top Jackets

GIRLS SOCCER

SPOTSYLVANIA 2, JAMES MONROE 1

Calli Stott and Emily Dove had goals to lead Spotsylvania (2–2–1) to a 2–1 Battlefield District girls soccer win against James Monroe on Friday.

Cara Lambert had a goal for James Monroe (3–1, 2–1), which plays at Culpeper on Tuesday.

Sam Hornung added an assist for the Knights, who host King George on Tuesday.

COURTLAND 3, EASTERN VIEW 1

Arianna Bradley and Katie Queen each scored one goal and one assist to lead Coutrland over Eastern View.

Marybeth McBroom added one goal for the Cougars (3–0), who host Chancellor Tuesday.

RIVERBEND 2, NORTH STAFFORD 2

Hanna Gardner and Taylor Scheer each scored second half goals to help homestanding Riverbend rally for a 2–0 deficit to get a Commonwealth District tie.

Caitlin Hite and Quincy Slora scored, and Sydney Melillo had an assist for North Stafford (4–2–1, 4–2–1), which entertains Brooke Point on Tuesday.

Goalie Beth Martin made a key late save on a breakaway for the Bears (3–2–1, 3–2–1), who visit Mountain View on Tuesday.

STAFFORD 3, BROOKE POINT 1

Katelyn Gudyka got Stafford off to a fast start with a goal in the first minute as the Indians earned a Commonwealth District win.

Nina Poppe and Katie Rauch also scored, while Larissa Ayo registered an assist for the Indians (1–6, 1–6), who host Orange on Thursday.

BOYS SOCCER

JAMES MONROE 7, SPOTSYLVANIA 0

Abdullah Kamil had four goals to lead the Yellow Jackets to a district win.

Nick Mueda, Mohammad Rafeik and Jaamir Bumbrey also scored, and Nick Mueda, Bradley Brown, Jaamir Bumbrey, and Mohammad Rafeik had assists.

James Monroe (3–0–1, 3–0) hosts Culpeper on Tuesday.

RIVERBEND 3, NORTH STAFFORD 1

Elliot Makris scored two goals to lead Riverbend over North Stafford.

Andre Thompson had one goal and one assist for the Bears (3–2–1), who visit Mountain View Tuesday.

MASSAPONAX 6, ORANGE 0

Kendric Brown had two goals, Andrew Kelly had two assists and Keith Phelps provided a goal and an assist for Massaponax in a Commonwealth District win.

Nick Randels, Christian Wendt and Jordan Stretch also scored, while Kevin Smithers and Theo Jolley added assists for the Panthers (4–1–1, 4–1–1).

Edwin Lazo and Gavin Mason shared the shutout in goal for Massaponax, which visits Colonial Forge on Thursday.

COURTLAND 8, EASTERN VIEW 0

Caleb Buttner scored twice and six other Cougars found the net in a Battlefield District win.

Seven of Courtland’s goals came in the second half. Andrew Oakes, Miguel Rodriguez, Jacob Patterson, Colby Hendricks, Jackson Taylor and Seth Yurgel all scored for the Cougars.

Oakes had three assists, Luke Taylor had two, and Buttner, Colby Smith and Hunter Haynes had one assist each for Courtland (3–1–1, 3–0–0).

CHANCELLOR 7, CAROLINE 0

Jacob Burke had three goals and Reynaldo Montecino provided one goals and two assists for Chancellor in a Battlefield District win.

Michael Young, Nolan Bonner and Jose Flores also scored, while Jared Clemens, Kaleb Lusczek, Josue Jimenez, Italo Chegne and Nefi Martinez added assists for the Chargers (2–3, 1–2).

Goalie Ricky Williams made 13 saves for Caroline (0–3, 0–3) Chancellor hosts Courtland on Tuesday.
