Prep Roundup: Girls Basketball

The Colonial Forge girls basketball team added a championship to its strong start to the season, getting a 60–34 win over Freedom in the final of the Apple Federal Credit Union Winter Classic played at Brooke Point High School yesterday.

T.T. Henderson, Nichole Collins, and Jahla Osborne all had double–doubles for the Eagles in the win.

In the third-place game, Keyontae Williams poured in 30 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead James Monroe past Gar–Field, 61–44.

Akira Jones added 13 points, five rebounds and two blocks for the Yellow Jackets.

In the fifth-place contest, Tykera Carter had 22 points and Rachael Payne grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Brooke Point, but Hylton was able to escape with a 45–40 win.

Woodbridge took home seventh place with a 32–15 win against John Paul the Great.

Colonial Forge earned three spots on the all-tournament team, led by Most Valuable Player Brandi Holland. Joining her were teammates Kenya Holland and T.T. Henderson, Freedom’s Tina McGhee and Jessica Harris, Williams from JM, Carter from Brooke Point, Gar–Field’s Shekinah Stewart and Hylton’s Tamara Madjette.

JM hosts Spotsylvania on Jan. 3.
