Eagle men fall to No. 2 CNU

Second-ranked Christopher Newport scored two second-half goals to beat the University of Mary Washington men’s soccer team 2–0 last night in Newport News.

The Captains scored twice in the first half, but UMW rebounded to play an even scoreless match in the second half. CNU led in shots, 18-13, and UMW led in corner kicks, 9-7. Freshman Tyler Back had two saves for the Eagles (7–6–3), who will host a Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinal match Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
UMW’s Billy Norfolk and Jessica Singer were named CAC swimmers of the week. Norfolk won the 100 and 200 butterfly against Division I Howard, while Singer won three events against Howard and Washington & Lee.
