Balanced attack leads Wolverines

North Stafford got balanced scoring and a slew of stick saves to earn 4–2 Commonwealth District field hockey victory at Riverbend yesterday.

Amanda Turner, Alexis Shenkle, Sydney Melillo and Danni Addison all scored for the Wolverines (8–7, 6–7). Shenkle, Melillo, Sarah Sebeck and Meghan O’Connor recorded assists.

Ashley White had three stick saves and Alex Hilsinger two for North Stafford.

Bella Licciardello scored both goals and Jordan Riddick had an assist for the Bears.

North Stafford hosts Brooke Point tomorrow.

FIELD HOCKEY

STAFFORD 3,

BROOKE POINT 0

Sarah French registered a goal and an assist to lead Stafford to a Commonwealth District win.

Shannon Fenwick and Sam Heflin each found the back of the cage. Heflin also recorded two assists for the Indians (12–1)., who host Albemarle tomorrow.

For Brooke Point (9–4), Madison Davis had four saves. Taylor Williams and Jessie Pope had two defensive saves apiece, and Caitlin Flinn contributed one.

Brooke Point travels to North Stafford tomorrow.

MASSAPONAX 3, ORANGE 0

Kelly McNult scored two goals to pace the visiting Panthers over the Hornets in a Commonwealth District game.

Meredith Pugh scored the other Panthers goal. Both McNult and Pugh had assists, as did Katie Brennan for Massaponax (5–9)., which hosts Colonial Forge on Tuesday.

Mountain View 1,

Albemarle 0

Bailey McCarthy scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from Lexi Plutt to give the Wildcats a Commonwealth District road win.

Shannon McMurray registered three saves to earn the shutout in goal for Mountain View (13–0)., which hosts Riverbend tomorrow.

Fred. Academy 7, FCS 0

Fredericksburg Academy got two goals each from Colleen Norair and Carolyn Topps in a Delaney Athletic Conference win over Fredericksburg Christian.

Sydney Hawkins had a goal and three assists, and Catherine Estes and Meghan Norair notched a goal each for the Falcons (7–0)., who host Kettle Run on Friday.
