No change from Anderson … yet
|From The Free Lance-Star’s Taft Coghill Jr.:I spoke with E.J. Anderson, the brother of Montrose Christian School basketball star Justin Anderson, moments ago.
After I told E.J., I may be writing a story on his brother changing his oral commitment from the University of Maryland to Virginia, he said not so fast.
“If you’re writing that tonight, then no,” said E.J., a former Courtland and University of Mary Washington basketball player.
That doesn’t mean the scenario isn’t possible or likely to happen soon.
Boo Williams, Justin’s AAU coach, told The Daily Press newspaper in Newport News today that the 6-foot-7 swingman could commit to Virginia.
“None of that is applicable at this moment,” E.J. said. “We’re just kind of going through the process.”
E.J. said his brother hasn’t told Maryland he’s not going there. The prospects of Justin, a Westmoreland County resident, reopening his recruitment came up when Maryland coach Gary Williams retired earlier this month. Former Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon was hired the following week.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on out there,” E.J. said of internet reports that his brother is heading to Virginia. “But right now we’re in the same position we were two weeks ago. We’re just sitting back, evaluating the process and making sure everything is going to be a good fit for Justin.”
