Redskins Sign Lance Lewis After Successful Tryout

The wide receiver from East Carolina missed all of last season with a groin injury and returned to the Redskins after a successful tryout earlier this month at rookie minicamp.

The Redskins have signed Lance Lewis, who was with the team through the offseason and part of training camp last year before being released because of an injury.

Lewis, a 6-foot-2, 207-pound receiver out of East Carolina, was not taken in the NFL draft last year and subsequently signed with the Redskins. He sustained a groin injury a week into training camp and was among the first players cut by the team, but returned earlier this month for a tryout during rookie minicamp.

Washington waived Jason Thompson, an undrafted receiver out of New Haven, on Monday and he cleared waivers Tuesday.
