Bears’ Victory Over Lions Means Redskins Only In Playoffs With Win Over Cowboys
By ZAC BOYER
LANDOVER, Md. – By virtue of Chicago’s 26-24 victory at Detroit on Sunday afternoon, the Washington Redskins must defeat Dallas on Sunday night to qualify for the playoffs.
Washington had a chance of capturing the final wild card spot if the Lions defeated the Bears and if Green Bay defeated Minnesota. But with Chicago winning – an outcome assisted by Jay Cutler’s 19-yard scramble for a first down with roughly three minutes remaining – gave Chicago the advantage for that final slot.
Should the Redskins defeat the Cowboys, they’ll host either San Francisco or, more likely, Seattle next weekend at FedEx Field.
The Redskins (9-6) are seeking their first playoff appearance in five years and their first NFC East title since 1999.
