Kirk Cousins Named A Finalist For Rookie, Moment Of The Week Awards
The NFL announced Tuesday that Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has been nominated for the Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week and the “GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week” awards.
Cousins, replacing an injured Robert Griffin III, led the Redskins to a 38-21 victory at Cleveland on Sunday. He completed 26 of 37 passes for 329 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the victory.
He won the Moment of the Week award after the last game, in which he replaced Griffin late in the Redskins’ victory over Baltimore and threw a touchdown pass and ran for a two-point conversion that tied the score and pushed the game to overtime.
San Francisco running back LaMichael James, Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill, Minnesota kicker Blair Walsh and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson are finalists for the Rookie of the Week award.
The Redskins have often kept the award in-house. Griffin has won it six times this season, while running back Alfred Morris won it twice, including last week.
Recipients of both awards are determined through fan voting online at NFL.com.
