Robert Griffin III Earns Rookie Of The Week Award For Third Time
ASHBURN – Robert Griffin III was named the Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after he led the Washington Redskins to a 38-26 victory over Minnesota on Sunday.
Griffin, who also won the award after each of the Redskins’ previous two victories, was selected as the winner through online fan balloting. He completed 17 of his 22 passing attempts for 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception while running 13 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Other finalists this week include Tampa Bay safety Mark Barron, Cleveland receiver Josh Gordon, Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill and Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson. Gordon was a former teammate of Griffin’s at Baylor.
Winners of each of the weekly awards will be eligible to become the Pepsi Max Rookie of the Year, which is also fan-driven and will be announced in February.
